A Little About Maha Kumbh
Once Devta’s and Demons fought over the Nector of Immortality, at the times of Samudra Manthan. Their fight leads to the dropping of drops of Nector in four different places on earth.
These four places are Haridwar, Ujjain, Prayagraj and Nashik. On the occasion of Kumbh Mela, the planets enter special astronomical positions which turns the water on these four cities into Nector.
A Little About Haridwar
Haridwar aka Gateway to God is located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. A place where The Amrit or Nector dropped accidentally on the Brahm Kund, Har Ki Podi along with Ujjain, Nashik, Prayagraj.
Haridwar is located on the banks of river Ganga. The most significant event is The Maha Kumbh celebrated after twelve years.
Kumbh Mela 2021 Dates
The Kumbh will begin with the first of April and last till the month-end but the holy bathing on auspicious dates can not be ignored. After all, it’s the matter of salvation. This time the holy dip into the water of the Ganges will be held on four different auspicious dates. These dates are shown below.
Somvati Amavasya 12 April 2021
The new moon day starts with an Amavasya and when this Amavasya lies on Monday or सोमवार in Hindi, It is called Somvati Amavasya ( सोमवती अमावस्या ). In Hindu culture, the day of Amavasya is important most rituals are performed on this date.
The holy dip into the water of the river Ganga is considered purifying. Somavati Amavasya also has a great significance for women. They keep a fast on this day. In some parts of India, this day is more popular as Gangor Puja. The Gangor Deity and her husband is believed to resemble Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati.
Mesha Sankranti And Baisaakhi 14 April, 2021
Now, this is the day almost everyone is waiting for. It is believed that on this day the holy water of the river turns itself into the nectar. Which will erode all their sins of not only this life, instead sins of all past lives and ultimately give them salvation.
According to Hindu Mythology, the Mesh Sankranti is the first day of the Hindu calendar. Also, most of the Hindu, Sikh and Bodh festivals are based on Mesha Sankranti.
Chaitra Poornima 27 April 2021
The first full moon day after the Mesha Sankranti or The Full moon day in the month of Chaitra ( A month in Hindu calendar ) is called Chaitra Poornima.
Technically people are taking a holi dip into the water on the first full moon day of the year.
