Jaisalmer Fort or Golden Fort

A wonderful place for shopaholics and art lovers. This fort offers dazzling experiences with its beauty, traditional Rajasthani shopping, and the museum inside. Because of the happenings inside this fort is also called the living fort. The night bazaars are organized by the shop owners for visitors. The night lightings on the sandstone make it shine like gold, such a beautiful evening it is. Just look at the picture, how the golden fort looks.

Gadisar Lake

If you love quiet places then this space is for you. You can also enjoy boating here. I was here on the occasion of the Jaisalmer desert festival 2021 and the whole place was lit with thousands of lights. Looking awesome. Surely gadisar lake is a spot in places to visit at Jaisalmer.

Bada Bagh

Multiple rows of cenotaphs built outside of the city, nearly 5-6 km away. Beautiful intricate carvings are done on the sandstone. Four different types of cenotaphs for the kings, queens, prince/princess, and other family members are built there. You need to pay an amount of 100/- rs per person and for shooting you need to take Extra permission.

Sam Sand Dunes

The tourist spots here do not end but the time does. I spent all three days but could not explore the city fully. Here are some more potential tourist spots that you must visit.

KULDHARA VILLAGE

Established in the 13th century and abandoned in the 19th century for unknown reasons, just like the Indus valley civilization. You can easily find the ruins of houses in the village. it is a good archeological site to visit if you love archeology.

PATWON KI HAVELI

One of the best in architectural design, The patwon ki haveli will leave you scratching your head. These Havelis are a combination of five different havelis into one, carved similar to each other. All five buildings were meant for five sons of Patwas, who had left Jaisalmer on the advice of a Jain priest. They left this haveli at the mercy of caretakers & one of these caretakers sold the building to other merchants.

SALIM SINGH KI HAVELI

Presently this haveli is occupied by the Mehta family of Jaisalmer and was built by Salim Singh. He was the prime minister of Jaisalmer in 1815, however, the current building is built on the remains of an old haveli. Haveli is built on narrow walls and then enlarging its jharokha’s aka balcony in all four directions, gives this haveli a different look and feel.

NATHMAL KI HAVELI

Do you know this haveli is carved by two brothers who were actually goldsmiths not sculptures. Both the brothers started working from two different sides and completed this building. You will find rich intricate carvings on theinner as well as the outer side of the haveli.
